What is your position with MyCase?
I am MyCase’s Marketing Automation Specialist.
How did you end up working for MyCase?
After spending a few years developing a personal software product in my downtime, I decided that it would make sense to get a proper education. With that said, I researched some of the top software development companies in town and prioritized them based on lean/agile development practices, leadership experience, and company culture. Appfolio ended up being #1 on my list and I figured it would be the ideal learning environment.
When I was originally hired by MyCase I worked on the Website Services team as a product specialist. Within one year a technical marketing position opened up and I was fortunate to be able to transfer to marketing.
What does your job entail?
I am responsible for developing and launching marketing programs across the customer lifecycle. I collaborate with various team members and leaders to plan, create, and execute campaigns with the intention of driving Marketing KPIs, including customer engagement, demand conversion, and retention.
What is the most difficult part of your job?
The most challenging part of my day-to-day is making sure that all projects I am either working on or managing are progressing. At times the status of a project can become stagnant and it usually takes some problem solving and communication to keep the “ball moving forward.”
What’s the best part of your job?
I am fairly competitive in nature and will gladly take on any opportunity to help increase our value in the legal SaaS market. This can mean talking about a project over lunch or contemplating how to integrate new technologies into our work processes or how to improve our product – basically anything that contributes to the overall success of MyCase.
Where are you originally from and how did you end up in Santa Barbara?
I was born in Pasadena, CA and raised on Whidbey Island, WA. When my immediate family re-located to Whidbey, the majority of our extended family members remained in Southern California and we visited Santa Barbara multiple times each year.
After graduating high school in 2005, my two best friends and I wanted a change of scenery, so we decided to go to school in Santa Barbara. I moved around Southern California a lot since then but returned to Santa Barbara in 2014 with the intention of staying as long as possible.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Santa Barbara is a beautiful place. Whenever I have some extra time I like to take advantage of it by going to the beach or just walking around downtown. My girlfriend and I have a young labrador so we especially enjoy taking her to parks and on hikes. Any other time I have is usually dedicated to staying active and working on personal endeavours.
