Free legal research… is it worth it?
As the Director of Law Office Management Assistance at the Maryland State Bar, attorney Charity Anastasio, works with attorneys from a variety of practice areas and age groups. And their spectrum of legal technology skills and knowledge is even more varied than their backgrounds.
In many cases, when it comes legal technology (like practice management software, eDiscovery, or legal research) some lawyers would rather just avoid the conversation all together instead of trying to wrap their heads around the benefits (many, by the way) of using technology to manage a more efficient practice.
Because let’s face it: technology doesn’t come easy for everybody. While some are born with a tech-savvy gene that makes creating pivot tables and Excel charts look as easy as playing solitaire, some of us have trouble just trying to remember passwords or how to add attachments to emails.
That’s why online legal research can sometimes be a challenge for lawyers. In 2017, attorneys have more options for free or affordable legal research than ever. But how do you choose which tool to use? It’s one of those areas of legal tech where all of the options (such as free or paid services and what’s included) can quickly become confusing. And unfortunately, this process can be even more complicated for lawyers who are tech-challenged.
The good news is that there are resources like this webinar that can help! Join Charity as she shares tips and shows you how to harness the full power of Google Scholar and other free online legal research tools in our webinar “Google Scholar and Free Legal Research.”
