What is your position with MyCase?
I’m the dedicated designer for the MyCase team, and I work mostly with the Marketing Team.
How did you end up working for MyCase?
I felt like I needed a change from my last job and AppFolio came up; long story short, the MyCase team was sharing resources on design tasks and urgently needed a dedicated person, so I took on the challenge.
What does your job entail?
My mission is to make the company look good and solve creative problems, alongside the frequent web design tasks and the occasional poster/t-shirt.
What is the most difficult part of your job?
I would say it’s figuring out what would make the most impact on our industry and striving to make things as efficient as possible. Luckily, I’m always up for the challenge and enjoy solving these problems. At the end of the day, that’s what really motivates me and gets me excited to continue the work the next day.
What’s the best part of your job?
There’s so much opportunity in what we do and I get super excited when our efforts culminate in success.
Where are you originally from and how did you end up in Santa Barbara?
I grew up in Eastern Europe in Romania–Transylvania to be more precise. In case you’re wondering: yes, it’s a real place – and by the way I’m 402 years old 🙂
I came to Santa Barbara two and a half years ago. I was an Interface Designer for EA Games at the time and made up my mind that I wanted to live in California. So, I quit my job, packed my bags (actually just one), and took a leap of faith. It was by far the best decision I’ve ever made!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m deeply passionate about everything design-related or creative, so I’m usually knee deep into learning the next coolest skill. Lately I’ve been rekindling my love of electronics with my Arduino, RC, and a bit of industrial design here and there. I also enjoy being in nature, so my wife and I go hiking and visit National Parks whenever we get the chance. We’re also big Vespa enthusiasts, and scoot around on the weekends in search of the best latte.
Do you have any unusual hobbies?
My obsession about 3D printers maybe?
Tell me about your family/pets, etc.?
My wife and I are newlyweds, celebrating our one year anniversary at the end of March by visiting Boulder, Colorado for the first time. We don’t have pets (yet), but can’t help but say “awwww” whenever we spot a cute dog or bunny on the Internet.
Do you have a favorite saying or quote and if so, what is it and why?
“Aut viam inveniam aut faciam,” meaning “I shall either find a way or make one.”
