Every year, Legaltech New York is an experience to remember, and the 2014 conference was no exception! This year, three members of the MyCase team attended: MyCase founder Matt Spiegel, Marketing Director Sarah Bottorff, and me, Niki Black.
Our days and nights at the conference were jam packed with meetings, lunches, dinners, and coffees with lawyers, journalists, bloggers, and other members of the legal technology community. We explored the Exhibit Hall, networked, and engaged in many thought-provoking conversations about the future of a legal profession in the midst of unparallelled change.
We started our tour of Legaltech on Tuesday. After a day full of meetings, we had the pleasure of dining –and talking shop–with Kevin O’Keefe of Lexblog, Ed Walters and Phil Rosenthal of Fastcase, and Scott Malouf, a Rochester, New York attorney and social media evidence expert.
On Wednesday, after a morning of interesting conversations, we headed off to Le Cirque to host lunch for our New York City Meet Up. It was a resounding success despite the icey slush covering much of New York that day! So much so that we actually had to add place settings in order to accomodate the wonderful crowd that showed up.
In attendance were lawyers–some who used MyCase, some who used our competitor’s platforms, and some who were interested in learning more about cloud computing and web-based law practice management services. Also present were many legal IT professionals seeking to learn more about MyCase and our law practice management software. It was an event full of networking, learning, and, of course, great food!
Later that same day, after more meetings, we headed off to the LTNY/Solosez dinner, which we co-sponsored. We spent the evening mingling with solo and small firm lawyers, including a few lawyers who were currently testing out our platform. It was an evening full of great conversations, wonderful people, and delicious food. In addition to the pictures below, more photos of the event can be found here.
Of course, while at the conference, we also hit the Exhibit Floor and on our last day, Sarah and I managed to snag the most sought after conference swag of them all (according to Above the Law): eDiscovery company BIA’s stuffed monkeys. Needless to say, our kids were thrilled!
And then, after a whirlwind of activity, it was over and we packed up our bags and headed home, with thoughts of legal technology and innovation on our minds.
But the excitement didn’t end there. It only continued once we returned to the offices with a lunch-n-bowl with members of the MyCase team to celebrate our best month ever! It was a well-deserved break for everyone and helped set the tone for a year of incredible hard work and unparallelled service for our amazing customers!
Here’s to more celebratory bowling parties and an incredible 2014!
