What is your position with MyCase?
My name is Alex Dikowski and I’m the Director of Product at MyCase. It’s my job to take the requirements and requests of customers and translate them into functional software designs.
Why did you help to create MyCase?
The founding team and I started MyCase to address the number one problem that was plaguing law firms across the country: the lack of quality attorney/client communication. It was strange to us that we are living in the digital age where everyone is constantly connected, yet the biggest client complaint against his attorney was that it was hard to keep an open dialogue going between the firm.
What are your primary considerations when implementing updates to the MyCase platform?
We designed–and continue to design–MyCase with the end goals of not only making our customer’s lives easier, but to provide great value to the end client of the firm. It’s been going great so far and my vision for MyCase is to continue down this path of enhancing the relationship between attorneys and their clients.
What do you like most about leading the MyCase product development team?
I like the level of passion the entire team brings to the table. Everyone doesn’t just “do” their job, they excel at it. Their commitment to the MyCase vision is what has let us create such an impactful product in such a short amount of time.
What’s your favorite part about working in the MyCase office?
I know this has most likely been said before, but I like the “work hard, play hard” mentality we’ve created at the office. We joke around and have a good time, but we are also laser focused on the task at hand. I also love the always-stocked and always-epic snack room!
What are you looking forward to in the upcoming year for MyCase?
As the Director of Product, I’m always anticipating the next big feature release that will delight our customers. We are currently working on a major update to our documents feature that I cannot wait to share with everyone. Stay tuned for that update, it’s coming soon!
Where are you originally from and how long have you been in San Diego?
I was born in New Jersey but moved to Arizona when I was four years old. It was fun growing up in Arizona, but trading the blazing hot summers for the Southern California weather was one of the best moves I’ve ever made. I’ve been in San Diego for just about five years now (and I’m in love with it).
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, anything in the outdoors, traveling, and art. San Diego is the perfect home base because you’re no more than two hours away from the beach, desert, mountains, or forest.
I have no problem admitting how much of a design nerd I am. That being said, my favorite quote is by the late (and great) Steve Jobs: “Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works.”
