Each month I highlight web or mobile apps that are useful to lawyers. Sometimes the apps are developed specifically for lawyers and other times I feature non-legal apps that are nevertheless interesting to lawyers.
Today’s app is Any.do’s Cal App. This is my favorite calendar app thus far–and I’ve tested out quite a few! I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I’m hooked.
Cal connects with the native iOS app, Google Calendar, or any other calendar that you’ve set up on your mobile device. So no matter what calendar you use, you should be able to integrate your current calendar into this app.
The very first thing you’ll notice about this app is it’s clean, user-friendly interface, which is a huge selling point. But in addition to its intuitiveness, it’s incredibly functional and versatile.
You can connect the app with your contacts so that whenever you enter an event, such as “Meeting with Mary,” the app will search your address book and suggest contacts with that same name, which you can then link to the event. The app then automatically includes the contact information so that you can email or text him or her from within the event with just the touch of an icon.
You can also add a location and, once you’ve done so, the app suggests businesses that match the location. After you choose the correct business, a map appears along with a navigation button, so that you can then pull up turn-by-turn instructions via Google Maps.
And last but not least, this app integrates with Any.do’s awesome “to do” app that I wrote about last year and displays your task list at the bottom of each day’s events.
All in all, this is a great calendar app and I highly recommend it.
This app is free and available for download on iOS or Android.

Hi Nicole, If you add calendar events to this app will they sync with MyCase?

Great question! You can use this app on your iPhone with the MyCase calendar as long as you’ve synced your calendar using a third party calendar (Outlook, Google or Apple iCal) as explained here: http://support.mycase.com/customer/portal/articles/13433-how-do-i-sync-my-calendar-with-a-third-party-program-outlook-gmail-etc- .
Once you’ve set your iPhone’s calendar up to sync with one of those calendars (which are synced with MyCase’s calendar), the Any.do Cal app will automatically pull the calendar information from your iPhone into the app.
Hope that helps!

Thanks Niki,
So I guess the “one-way” sync that is described in the article you reference has now been upgraded to a “two-way” sync?
“MyCase supports one-way sync which means calendar events added in MyCase will be pushed out to the program of your choice. You will not be able to add appointments to your third party calendar program and have them appear in MyCase (this feature is coming soon).”
Appreciate your help and pointing out this handy app!

I tested this myself and reached out to our tech support. When I added a test appointment to the Any.do Cal, it synced to my MyCase calendar after a few minutes. So it does sync both ways.
Give it a try and see for yourself and if you encounter any issues, let me know. It’s a really nice interface and I really like it.
(Also I discovered another interesting calendar app today, Donna. I don’t like its interface quite as much but it has other interesting features.)
Thanks for your interest!
