How To Use eDiscovery In Your Small Firm Practice

original-kelly-twigger.jpeg20160629-20506-oazrxoThe Nokia 3210 GSM cellular phone was released on March 18, 1999, sold over 160,000,000 units, and is considered one of the most popular and successful phones in history. And 17 years later, there are incredibly valid reasons why you still don’t use a Nokia 3210 GSM cellular phone.

The same applies to eDiscovery.

If you’re still using the same tools and taking the same approach to discovery as you have for the past decade, then you are going have to reeducate yourself. At least that’s what Kelly Twigger would say. Kelly Twigger is an attorney and eDiscovery expert whose 19 years of experience in Information Law has put her firm, ESI Attorneys, in business with Fortune 50 and 250 companies as well as law firms of all sizes.

In yesterday’s webinar, “How to Use eDiscovery in Your Small Firm Practice,” Kelly showcased her eDiscovery knowledge in her 60-minute eDiscovery legal webinar, and shared dozens of examples as to how you can use Electronically Stored Information (ESI) and eDiscovery in your small law firm to help you and your clients.

So if you’ve found yourself frustrated or making excuses for not using electronic discovery in your law practice, you need to get over it. You need to get past the ESI myths and understand that eDiscovery is here to stay, and it will only get more complex as technology gets more complex.

Part of this complexity is why traditional discovery approach does not work with ESI, so to be successful you need to change your approach to make it work for your firm. As Attorney Twigger said, “You don’t need to know everything… All you need to know is what is relevant to you and your practice.”

Consider this: 99% of all information created is electronic. There are 110,000 pages of information in just 1GB of email. That’s why the traditional high cost with low reward funnel approach doesn’t work with ESI. So when you sit down to think about eDiscovery for your practice, you need to think about what that looks like for your practice and rethink your approach to discovery.

These are the areas of eDiscovery that Kelly knows so well and covers in depth in this webinar. There are tremendous benefits to be had with ESI, for both you and your clients, so take the time to start thinking about ESI and learn about:

  • Federal, state and ethical implications
  • Creating a cost-effective approach to eDiscovery that meets YOUR needs
  • The “Internet of Things” and expanding ESI
  • What you need to be thinking about for your clients
  • Much more!
