Screen Shot 2016-03-08 at 8.55.28 AMABA Techshow 2016 is right around the corner. Next week, lawyers and legal professionals from across the country will descend upon the Hilton in Chicago to learn all there is to know about using technology in your solo or small law practice. Whether it’s cloud computing, mobile tools and apps, Macs in law offices, or paperless tips, you’ll find it at Techshow.

Of course, there’s much more to Techshow than the educational sessions. So if you plan to be be in Chicago next week, here’s everything you need to know, from the schedule and the EXPO hall to the dinners and evening entertainment.

The schedule

As always, the Techshow sessions are sure to provide a wealth of information on topics designed to get your law firm up to speed with 21st century legal technology tools designed to streamline your law practice and save you time and money. There are tracks devoted to technology, productivity, mobile apps, cybersecurity, and more. No matter what type of legal technology you’re looking to learn about, you’ll find it at Techshow.

The full conference schedule can be found here. And, if you’re a first time attendee, make sure to read the ABA’s helpful guide to the conference.

The app

Since this is a technology conference, it’s no surprise that the ABA offers a Techshow app that provides one-stop access to everything you need to know about the conference. No matter what your device, there’s an app for you. Download the app here.

The EXPO Hall

One of the best reasons to attend Techshow is to learn about the latest in legal technology and what better place to do that than on the EXPO Hall floor? Even if you don’t plan to attend the conference, you can still visit the EXPO Hall by picking up a free EXPO Hall pass here.

There will be a vast array of legal technology companies exhibiting this year. You can view this year’s EXPO Hall floor plan here.

And, if you’re in the market for law practice management software, don’t forget to stop by and visit MyCase at booth 301, grab a glass of beer (on Thursday March 17th from 2:30-5:30 pm), get your professional headshot taken (on Friday March 18th from 11-3pm), and enter to win an Apple TV. We’re giving 3 away, so don’t miss out!

And keep an eye out for the visual notes taken by visual artist Stephanie Crowley. To give you a taste, you can view past year’s visual notes here.

The parties

We all know that there’s more to Techshow than the seminars and the EXPO Hall. Networking and nights out on the town are just as important and there are lots of options available to you at this year’s conference.

First, on Wednesday, March 16th, there will be a welcome reception which will be held from 6 -7:30 pm. in the EXPO Hall.

Next, on Thursday, March 17th there will be a 30th anniversary celebration which will be held from 6-8:30 pm.

Then on Friday night March 18th from 5:30-7pm, the annual “Beer for Blawggers” event will be held in the Hilton Chicago’s Lakeside Green Lounge.

And last but certainly not least, don’t miss MyCase’s Law and Disorder Party on Friday March 18th at 8 pm right after Beer for Blawggers. It’s being held at Buddy Guy’s Legends and you’ll get free drinks and food, hear some incredible blues, and have a ton of fun! What more could you ask for? Reserve your spot here. But hurry–don’t delay–space is running out!

Dinner plans

Of course, while you’re at Techshow, you need to eat before you head out for the night. The good news is that there are lots of options built right into the show that you can participate in by signing up for a Taste of Techshow dinner. The dinners are held on Friday night this year and you can sign up online or once you arrive at the conference. The dinners fill up quickly though, so you’d be wise to sign up online if there’s one that really strikes your fancy.

So there you have it–everything you need to know about ABA Techshow 2016! Safe travels and see you there!
