What is your position with MyCase?
I am a Senior Software Specialist
How did you end up working for MyCase?
My main priority before graduating from college was locking down a job that would allow me to continue living in Santa Barbara. MyCase was the first and only company I applied to. From my online research and asking friends about the company, it seemed exactly like the type of place that I wanted to work.
What does your job entail?
I proactively reach out to law firms that create trials with MyCase to provide an introduction to the software. During their MyCase free trial I provide an initial overview of the software along with support and guidance as they begin implementing it. Beyond the initial trial period, I also help them get set up with custom websites and online payments.
What is the most difficult part of your job?
The most difficult part of my job is getting attorneys to commit to a half hour walkthrough of MyCase. Attorneys are incredibly busy and struggle to find a spare minute to talk to me, and as a result of this there are firms that I never get the opportunity to show the software to. This can be frustrating because oftentimes the attorneys that have no time to talk are the ones who would benefit most from using MyCase.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is interacting with excited customers. There’s no better feeling than walking a prospect through the software and hitting upon a feature that has the potential to revolutionize the way they run their office. I call these “a-ha moments” and look forward to them on every call.
Where are you originally from and how did you end up in Santa Barbara?
I’m originally from Thousand Oaks, California and made the short trip up the 101 to attend UCSB. After living in Santa Barbara for four years, I knew that I couldn’t bring myself to move away post-graduation.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to explore Santa Barbara. Between the new restaurants and cool stores popping up, and the amazing hiking in the mountains that border Santa Barbara, it seems like there’s always something new to do. I also love watching sports–namely basketball and soccer.
Do you have any unusual hobbies?
I wouldn’t exactly call it an unusual hobby, but I’m a die-hard Manchester United fan. I typically have to wake up at 4:30 a.m. on the weekends to catch games. All of my friends think I’m crazy since I could just watch a replay of the game at a normal time of day, but it’s just not the same.
Tell me about your family/pets, etc.?
My entire family lives in the Southern California area. Because of this we are all really close and are able to spend practically every holiday together. This is one of the main reasons that I can’t see myself ever moving anywhere else! I also have an awesome cat named Ted. He is only a year and a half old, but is already incredibly spoiled.
Do you have a favorite saying or quote and if so, what is it and why?
“What I’m doing right now, I’m chasing perfection”– Kobe Bryant.
Kobe was my idol when I was growing up– everything he did seemed effortless. Now that I’m older, I know better. I know that hours of work after practice and countless sacrifices off of the court made Kobe the greatest player of all time. I try to keep that in mind when thinking about the goals I set for myself.
