What is your position with MyCase?

Senior Software Engineer

How did you end up working for MyCase?

I was looking for a position that would allow me to be a part of a small team, work with smart people using interesting technology, solve difficult problems, and deliver innovative features to customers. Immediately after interviewing, I knew MyCase met this criteria, and I was happy to join the team.

What does your job entail?

Creating new features, mentoring new engineers, fixing bugs that come up, and collaborating with our product team to deliver an awesome experience to our customers.

What is the most difficult part of your job?

Finding the right balance between “let’s get this feature out” and “let’s make it perfect.”

What’s the best part of your job?

I get to solve interesting problems with an amazing group of people — what more could you ask for?

Where are you originally from and how did you end up in San Diego?

I’m originally from Upstate New York. I met my fiancée at Northeastern University in Boston. After some traveling and a stint in Missoula, Montana, she convinced me to move to her hometown of San Diego.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love surfing and discovering new music. I also like tinkering with software and working on side projects.

Tell me about your family/pets, etc.?

My parents are both social workers and live in my hometown of Rhinebeck, New York. My fiancée recently got her Masters degree and is working as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern.

Do you have a favorite saying or quote and if so, what is it and why?

“The mind is a great servant but a poor master.”

It’s valuable and useful to use my analytical mind while engineering software. Yet, I strive to be mindful and open: not completely driven by my rational mind.
