Get to Know MyCase's Marketing Manager, Julie Scotland

What is your position with MyCase?

I am the Marketing Manager at MyCase.

How did you become involved with MyCase?

I was working with AppFolio when MyCase was acquired and jumped on the opportunity to work with the founding team. I was incredibly impressed with the solution they had built and the reputation they had made for themselves in the legal industry.

What’s the best part of your job?

MyCase believes in Marketing through education. I love hosting events and distributing content because it actually helps our customers and prospects grow their practices in smart and efficient ways. It’s marketing as a service.

Where are you originally from and how long have you been in Santa Barbara?

I was born on the East Coast but grew up in the beautiful green city of Portland, Oregon. I moved to Santa Barbara about 4 years ago and immediately fell in love with the culture (and weather). I don’t think a day has gone by since I moved here that I haven’t had to remind myself that I am actually living in this paradise and am not just on an extended vacation.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love hiking, walking on the beach, traveling, wine tasting in the Funk Zone, and curling up on the couch with my husband and puppy and watching Breaking Bad or Game Of Thrones for entertainment.

Tell me about your family/pets, etc.?
My husband, Conor, also works for a local technology company. He is incredibly bright and supportive. I’m very lucky to have partnered with him. Conor always finds new and interesting things for us to get involved with. As of right now it is astronomy – he just got a huge telescope and has been teaching me the ropes of stargazing. Also, Conor and I just got a new puppy, Blue. She’s half Mini-Labradoodle and half Jack Russell Terrier. She’s too smart for her own good but we adore her.
My much taller little brother is an Actor in LA and my parents are retired in Portland (although my father has been working on a screenplay and my mother is schooling her friends in Mah-Jong). My Mom-Mom is in Portland, too, and has the most active social life of anyone in the family!

Do you have a favorite saying or quote and if so, what is it and why?

My favorite quote is from Satchel Paige: “Never look back, they may be gaining on you.”
My Pop-Pop (whom I was close with) used to say this all the time. It inspires me to keep moving forward and make the most of what’s ahead while also reminding me to keep a good sense of humor.
